Filipp Shestakov (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your pet’s health information. This Privacy Policy explains how the PetBG Journal mobile application (“App”) collects, uses, and protects your data.
Your pet’s health data stays on your device - we don’t collect or store it on our servers. This means you have full control over your data at all times.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Pet Health Data You Enter
The App allows you to log and track your pet’s diabetes-related health information, including:
- Blood glucose readings (mg/dL or mmol/L)
- Insulin doses and medication records
- Weight measurements
- Timestamps of entries
- Personal notes and observations
All of this data is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, access, or store your pet’s health data on our servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
- Your pet’s health data - it never leaves your device
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Your location data
- Browsing history or activity outside the App
- Photos or images you may store locally in the App
- Any personally identifiable information beyond what’s minimally required for app functionality
How We Use Your Information
Local-First Storage
Your pet’s health data is stored 100% locally on your iOS device using Apple’s secure CoreData framework. Your data never leaves your device. There is no cloud backup, no server synchronization, and no remote access to your pet’s health information.
You retain full control over your data. We cannot access, view, or recover your data - only you can.
Data Processing
All data processing (charts, statistics, trend analysis) happens entirely on your device. No health data is transmitted to our servers for processing.
Third-Party Services
We use two third-party services for essential app functionality. These services collect minimal, anonymized data only:
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
Purpose: Manages in-app subscription purchases for premium features.
Data Shared: Anonymous device ID only - no health data, no personal information.

Amplitude (Analytics)
Purpose: Helps us understand app usage patterns to improve features and performance.
Data Shared: Anonymized usage events (e.g., “user opened settings screen”) - no health data, no personal information.
Privacy Features:
- EU servers: All data stored on Amplitude’s EU infrastructure
- IP tracking disabled: Your IP address is not logged
- Opt-out available: Settings → Privacy → Disable Analytics

Important: Neither RevenueCat nor Amplitude have access to your pet’s glucose readings, insulin doses, notes, or any other health data you enter. They only see anonymous identifiers and basic app usage events.
Data Security
Your pet’s health data is protected by:
- iOS device encryption: All data stored in CoreData is protected by iOS system-level encryption
- No transmission risk: Since data never leaves your device, there’s no risk of interception during transmission
- Secure device access: Your data is protected by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID
However, you are responsible for securing your device. If your device is lost, stolen, or accessed by unauthorized users, your data may be at risk.
Data Retention and Deletion
How Long We Keep Your Data
Your pet’s health data is stored on your device indefinitely until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic deletion or expiration.
How to Delete Your Data
You can delete your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual entries: Swipe to delete entries within the App
- Exporting and clearing all data: Settings → Export Data (CSV) → Settings → Delete All Data (premium subscription required for CSV export; free users can delete without exporting)
- Uninstalling the App: Deleting the App from your device will permanently delete all local data
Important: Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting your data as CSV before deleting if you want to keep a backup.
CSV Export
If you subscribe to the premium tier, you can export your data as a CSV file and save it to your Files app, email it, or store it wherever you choose. You are responsible for managing and securing these exported files.
Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the following rights:
- Access: View all data you have entered into the App at any time
- Export: Export your data as CSV (premium subscription required)
- Delete: Delete any or all data within the App
- Opt-out of analytics: Disable Amplitude analytics in Settings → Privacy → Disable Analytics
Since all of your pet’s health data is stored locally on your device and we do not have access to it, you have direct control over your data at all times.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or app features. When we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
- Displaying an in-app notification when you next open the App
Your continued use of the App after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
